History:: One of three Ohio entries to start play in 1991, the Chill soon built a loyal following in the shadow of Ohio State athletics. Since then Columbus has been blessed with some solid, if not spectacular hockey. The team has strong ties to the community, including two practice rinks, or "chillers" that are also open to the public. Time is running out, however, for the Chill. The NHL's Columbus Bluejackets are set to begin play in the 2000-01 season. Therefore, the Chill has been sold to a new ownership group that will suspend operations this summer for at least one year, with an eye towards eventual relocation.
